Explore the exciting schedule of events at the Harry Whitehorse International Wood Sculpture Festival. From captivating artist demonstrations to cultural performances and interactive workshops, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Cultural presenters schedule is subject to change.

Day 1: Opening Ceremony, Friday, June 14 @ 5PM

The festival’s opening ceremony will highlight the event’s cultural significance. A Ho-Chunk Color Guard will honor Harry Whitehorse’s military service, followed by traditional Ho-Chunk singing and dancing, setting the stage for an unforgettable celebration of art and heritage. If you plan to attend the opening ceremony, consider bringing a lawn chair, as there may be limited seating available.

  • Cultural Presenters: Weaving Together Our Cultures Group: Melanie Tallmadge Sainz (Ho-Chunk) and Kristin Klingman (LDF Ojibway). Artforms demonstrated: cattail, basswood, and bulrush weaving and twining; paxge beading method; porcupine quill art methods

  • Make Music Monona, 10 AM – 8 PM:  An area-wide day of music held annually on June 21st, the longest day of the year. More information.
  • NEW! We are thrilled to announce that the Madison Children’s Museum’s Roadshow will be joining us this Friday at 2 PM! Bring your little ones to their tent where they can participate in fun and creative activities, including making their very own canoe and a seed necklace. There will be a pool for kids to float their canoes, adding an extra splash of excitement to the experience. Before crafting, kids are encouraged to visit the dugout and MG21 canoes to get inspired. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity for hands-on learning and creativity!
